## BROADCAST DEPTH

I don't know how many people remember this MMO but it was awesome in the early 2000's before SOE took over and ruined it like they did with Star Wars Galaxies (Considered by many to be The First MMO).

I think some of the more unique aspects of the game were the LESIG (Live Event Special Interest Group), where players took an active role in quests guided by staff who would communicate in real time and not just NPCS;
* The story from the movies continued through in-game cinematics, which degraded in quality over time until they were about as good as something you'd see on Newgrounds
* Until SOE ruined it, the combat was unique and awesome, it has yet to be recreated
* The class trees, specs, and crafting also had a depth to them, ie you could spec into crafting and just make stuff
* The in game factions tied in to the lore of the second and third films, so there were vampires, werewolves, even ancient tengu, all kinds of lore to explore in a manner that continued the canon story outside of the static / passive receptive medium of film

Overall it was really cool to run around and hyperjump across rooftops, get chased by agents, and explore the megacity. My gpu could barely run it back in the day, so half the world were black boxes, tons of lag, couldn't see a lot of player detail, my memories are sketchy but fond, always wish I had more time to experience the full game.

The underlying system that Monolith Productions used for the backend of the game was called LithTech Discovery, which is/was/will be proprietary and only employees had access to. There has been some work in reverse engineering the Distributed Object System by the hacker Rajko Stojadinovic. This system allowed for unique effects & combat behaviors like bullet time, and 'combat lock' go off in a synchronized manner across clients.

Though the assets, effects, and all the 'parts' have been ripped and packets have been sniffed ... there's still the necessary work of gluing it all together in an engine.

Looks very cool, hope someone brings it back. I got too many ongoing projects to look into the packet captures myself but I know a few people who are able to do it.
