In my journey across the internet to find clues on how to work with holograms and rwx and other previously obscure worlds knowledge, I came across a bunch of personal pages and resources.

Here are some from enthusiasts of Worlds Chat Japan:

http://www.yo.rim.or.jp/~bhouken/rimchat/rimchat01.htm

I'm not sure if there are other pages to this one other than the tutorial. It is very in depth. One thing you will see common to these tutorials is that you couldn't host custom mov avatars like you can now (much to my dismay when I was learning). What these people did was share the files with their friends renamed as one of the default avs, basically overwriting it with their custom one.

http://www.mirai.ne.jp/~oguma/wcj.htm

I think this one is very funny. They say they are part of the "Mongolian club" (not actually Mongolians) and they greet each other by saying "Mongolia" because it's less boring than just saying hello. Almost like how we say kiwi in Worlds today.

This one has some adorable custom .mov avatars that can still be downloaded. Might be worth hosting these for use in Worlds.

Another group of cute avatars. This guy has a blog that goes up to as recent as 2001.

Most of the things I learned about .rwx are from ActiveWorlds websites:

This one is almost like a newsletter with activeworlds news and tips. It also hosts a lot of links to other related sites.

This one goes really into depth about rwx techniques. My favorite idea shown here is using a "facer" material to act as a shadow for a 3d model that is always flat along the ground.

http://www.alusion-fr.com/an1z1.htm

Has a helpful index of rwx keywords and many (allegedly) free models one can use for their custom worlds. There's some nice rwx skyboxes too.

Super common seeing that around. Apparently there were some pages that also suggest custom worlds too, which is something I have yet to see as a download anywhere. Hopefully not lost to time. Glad we have custom holograms on Worlds.com now.

History repeats itself.

I'll see if I can mirror some of these avatars and make them accessible today at some point. On my to-do list.

After some more looking around, I thinkthis is the first site where I found a working compimg download. It's basically an archive of a bunch of stuff that was served over ftp. This is the 16 bit version that won't run on modern windows. I ran it through dosbox at first and I'm glad i don't have to do that anymore.
